How to use this tool

Paste your class list with one student per line, then click Pick a Student. The tool randomly selects one student from the current list.

Random Student Caller for Classroom Participation

Use this classroom student picker as a random student caller when you need someone to answer a question, respond during a class discussion, or take the next participation turn. It also works for cold calling, review questions, check-for-understanding prompts, and quick verbal responses without asking for volunteers every time.

Student Selector for Fair Turns

Turn on no-repeat mode to remove selected students from the current round. When everyone has had a turn, reset the round to restore the full class list. This random student selector is designed for teachers who want to help distribute turns more evenly while still choosing randomly from the students who remain.

Pick Students for Presentations, Reading, and Activities

When you need to pick a random student, use the selector for presentation order, reading aloud, classroom jobs, demonstrations, review games, discussion leaders, or helper roles. Keep repeats available when the same student may be selected again, or use no-repeat mode for a one-turn-per-student round.

Random Student Picker for Smartboards

Project the picker on a classroom screen, projector, or smartboard so the whole class can follow the selection. The selected student appears in a large display beneath the controls for easy whole-class visibility. Use Projector View to fill the screen when the browser supports fullscreen.
